The Counselling & Wellbeing Service is here to support you throughout your time at university. We understand that life can bring challenges and changes that can affect your wellbeing and your studies. Our aim is to help you navigate these challenges, support your wellbeing, and enable you to get the most from your university experience.
One-at-a-time counselling
Our counselling service works using a One-At-A-Time approach. This means that you book one counselling session at a time, with the intention that each session is complete and valuable in its own right.
Following your session, we encourage you to take time to reflect on what you've found helpful and how things have developed. If, after this period of reflection, you feel you would benefit from another session, you are welcome to get back in touch.Ìý
Each session is tailored to what feels most important to you at that time. It may focus on finding practical ways forward, developing new insights or coping strategies, making sense of difficult experiences, or simply providing a safe space to pause, reflect and process what is happening.Ìý
As a university service, we offer short-term support and will always be open about what is appropriate and achievable within our service. Where longer-term or more specialised support would better meet your needs, we will discuss this with you and help you explore suitable options, including referrals to the NHS or external organisations where appropriate.Ìý
Opening hours
Appointments with our team can take place in person, by telephone or video call, or via chat or email.
Counselling appointments are available daytime on weekdays.
