ÐßÐßÊÓƵ

ÐßÐßÊÓƵflex supports flexible learning enabling students to upskill, reskill or pursue a passion, studying at their own pace without having to commit to a formal course of study. It can also be used by employers to help build an education pathway for their employees to gain the skills and knowledge required to meet business needs.

The benefits of ÐßÐßÊÓƵflex

• You may have accumulated enough credit through, for example, under-taking credit-bearing short courses that you are eligible for an undergraduate or postgraduate award from ÐßÐßÊÓƵ. Alternatively, if you have undertaken modules/short courses, ÐßÐßÊÓƵflex can provide a pathway that allows you to build on your learning to gain an exit award.
• Supports flexible lifelong learning and enables you to further your knowledge and skills by pursuing a personal and professional ambition while maintaining other commitments.
• Increases access to high quality learning across a range of subject areas.
• Enhances interdisciplinary opportunities, drawing on different perspectives from various subject areas. You also have the potential to transfer credit from other learning providers to make up your credit (up to 50% depending on the award – please refer to Academic Regulation A2: Admission and Enrolment for more information about maximum credits per RPL claim).
• Provides opportunities to enhance your current skillset, while also gaining new skills to give you that competitive edge.
• Provides learning opportunities aligned with labour market trends and skills demands in growth markets; these learning opportunities may also align with local market demands in support of ambitions for regional economic developments.

Award Eligibility

If you have successfully completed credit-rated modules and/or short courses at ÐßÐßÊÓƵ  or another institution you can enquire about your eligibility for an award by emailing flex@rgu.ac.uk so that an appropriate member of staff can advise you.

Before Enquiring

Things to be aware of before enquiring about an award via ÐßÐßÊÓƵflex:

As the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) Student Visa is granted for the purpose of studying in the UK, and it is not a requirement of ÐßÐßÊÓƵFlex that you attend the University campus, taking academic credit through ÐßÐßÊÓƵFlex does not provide eligibility for the UK Student Visa or the Graduate Route Visa.

The academic credit must be successfully completed and approved as credit-bearing by ÐßÐßÊÓƵ for it to be considered for an award. If you have credit outwith ÐßÐßÊÓƵ, please enquire via flex@rgu.ac.uk about the potential to use this towards an award.

Available Awards

The following awards are available as part of ÐßÐßÊÓƵflex – these can be awarded with or without an approved School subject specialism in the title depending on the credit that has been accumulated i.e. MSc Professional Studies (with or without subject specialism – see below for the current approved list):

Subject Specialism in Award Titles

The specific subject specialisms that have been approved for inclusion in an award title are offered by individual Schools and will be available to students who complete all of their eligible credits within that School. Students who undertake study across more than one School will not currently be eligible for an award with a subject specialism in the title.

The current list of approved subject specialisms (available with any of the above-mentioned awards) is as follows:

All modules should have been successfully completed within an 8-year period.

The course specification for ÐßÐßÊÓƵflex is in the process of being updated for Session 2026/27 following recently approved updates and will be available soon.
